Professional Laminate Flooring Fitters Across West Yorkshire

We fit laminate in single rooms, hallways and full homes. Landlords often choose laminate flooring for rental properties between tenancies because it's easy to clean and practical for regular use. We also fit laminate flooring in local shops and offices, so we handle both domestic and commercial projects.

Most customers choose our supply and fit laminate flooring service, where we provide the flooring and handle the fitting.

If you've already bought your flooring, our fit-only laminate flooring service covers the installation labour.

In both cases, we check the subfloor before fitting so we can flag any issues in advance.

Laminate Fitting for Every Room

Laminate flooring can be used in many rooms around the home. Living rooms, bedrooms, and home offices are usually simple to fit, while hallways need a suitable AC rating for the foot traffic they receive.

Kitchens need a little more consideration. Areas around sinks and dishwashers can be exposed to splashes so we may recommend water-resistant boards rather than standard laminate. The same applies to open-plan kitchen diners where the flooring runs from the kitchen into the dining area.

Most boards we fit use a click-lock laminate fitting system, so the floor floats over the subfloor instead of being glued or nailed down. It fits faster and lifts more easily later, if you ever need to take it up.

What Your Subfloor Needs Before We Fit

Good subfloor preparation is an important part of laminate flooring installation. If the surface isn't level or properly prepared, you can end up with problems such as creaking, gaps, or movement in the flooring.

Laminate flooring over concrete usually needs a damp-proof membrane under the laminate, particularly in ground-floor rooms or older properties without a modern damp course. We test the slab for moisture on the visit, and we won't skip this step even when it adds a bit to the job.

Laying laminate over floorboards is usually simple, but loose or springy boards need to be secured first. If there are gaps between the boards, we may recommend a plywood overlay to give the laminate an even surface.

Tiles can often stay in place if they're flat and firmly fixed. If the tiled floor is very uneven, it may need levelling before the laminate is fitted.

As a rough guide, the floor should be within about 3 mm over a two-metre run for laminate flooring. If it's more uneven than this, we may use a self-levelling compound or latex screed before fitting. We'll explain this during the visit and let you know if it adds to the cost.

How Much Does Laminate Flooring Fitting Cost?

Laminate flooring fitting cost depends on the size of the room, the condition of your subfloor, and whether you want us to supply the boards or just fit them. Once we've seen the space, we'll give you a fixed price so you know the cost before the work starts.

What you needHow it's priced
Fit onlyPriced per square metre for labour.
Supply and fitPriced per square metre, including boards, underlay and beading.
StairsPriced per step.
Subfloor levellingQuoted separately after we've checked the floor.

We'll check your requirements and give you a clear price before the work starts.

If you're weighing up the cost to fit laminate flooring per square metre against other quotes, ask what's actually included. Some quotes cover labour only and leave out underlay, beading or disposal of the old floor. Ours doesn't.

Laminate fitting labour costs can also vary depending on access. A ground floor room with easy access may cost less to fit than an upstairs room reached by a narrow staircase, as it can take more time to carry materials and complete the work.

A few things can add to the final cost:

  • Uplift and disposal of your old flooring
  • Subfloor levelling or a damp-proof layer
  • Door trimming, where the new floor sits higher than the old one
  • Extra underlay for sound or damp resistance
  • Furniture moving, if you'd rather we handled it

We'll confirm any additional costs after we've seen the room and checked what the job requires.

What's Included With Our Laminate Fitting Service

Every laminate fitting job includes:

  • A measurement and subfloor check before we quote
  • Laminate underlay and beading fitted as standard
  • Correct expansion gaps around the edges of the room
  • Threshold bars where the laminate meets another floor
  • Cleaning up after the job is finished

Door trimming is included where the new floor height stops a door closing properly. We'll deal with this on the day rather than leaving it for you to sort out afterwards.

Furniture moving, uplift, and disposal of your old flooring aren't automatically included, but we're happy to quote for both. If you'd prefer to clear the room yourself to keep costs down, that's fine too. Just let us know what you'd like us to handle when you book.

What Our Customers Say

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to fit laminate flooring?

It depends on the size of the room, the condition of your subfloor, and whether you want supply and fit or fit only. We'll give you a fixed price after seeing the space.

Can you lay laminate flooring over existing floorboards or tiles?

In most cases, yes. Existing floorboards need to be solid and level first. Tiles can usually stay in place if they're flat and firmly fixed.

Do I need a damp-proof membrane on a concrete floor?

Usually, yes, especially on ground floor rooms. We test the slab for moisture on the home visit and advise you from there.

Do I need underlay for laminate?

Nearly always. Underlay helps support the flooring, reduce sound, and add some warmth underfoot. We include it as standard.

How long does it take to fit laminate flooring?

A single room usually takes a day. Larger jobs or whole houses may take one to two days.

Do laminate fitters move furniture and take away the old flooring?

We can, if you'd like us to. Just mention it when you book so we can quote for it.

Can laminate be fitted in a kitchen or bathroom?

Kitchens, yes, though we'd usually recommend a water-resistant board near sinks and appliances. Bathrooms aren't really suited to laminate.

What AC rating do I need?

It depends on how much foot traffic the room gets. Hallways and busy family rooms usually need a higher rating than a spare bedroom. We'll help you choose the right rating when we visit.

Can you fit laminate flooring I have bought myself?

Yes. Our fit-only service covers laminate flooring you've already purchased.

Do laminate fitters trim doors to fit the new floor?

We do, wherever the new floor height stops a door from closing properly.

How soon can I walk on newly fitted laminate flooring?

In most cases, you can walk on it straight away. Laminate flooring doesn't need drying time after installation.

Can laminate flooring be fitted over underfloor heating?

Yes, as long as the boards and underlay are both suitable for use with underfloor heating. Most manufacturers advise keeping the floor surface temperature at around 27°C or below. We'll check that your chosen boards are compatible during the home visit.
